Facilities at Umkhumbi Lodge
The Lapa
Lapa is a South African term for our main lodge area building. It’s spacious, built entirely from locally sourced wood and offers panoramic views over the dense canopy of wooded Sandforest which completely surrounds the lodge. It’s the perfect place to chill out and watch the sun go down after a day exploring.
Restaurant
Your meals are served at the dining area or in the bar, produced by our wonderful team.
*Our restaurant however is currently closed except for pre-booked meals (current June/July 2022). We apologise for any disappointment. Our units have self-catering facilities and we are fortunate to have two restaurants very nearby where you can eat out (just 5 minutes away).
Tree-top bar
Spectacular sunsets viewed from our upstairs bar make for relaxing afternoons after your day’s activities. Spend your evening swapping stories around the fire circle chatting and watching the stars or enjoying drinks on the top deck at the bar with other guests.
It’s a fun place to be, especially in the evening, as the team is on hand to answer your questions and help you plan the next day’s activities.
Swimming Pool
We have a small pool in a secluded clearing where you can take a dip and cool off, or relax on the sun loungers.
Kids Play Area
Near to the pool is a kids play area with climbing equipment, slide and tyre swing. There are picnic tables under the trees nearby for parents to relax while the children have fun.
Spa Service
We do not have a spa at Umkhumbi Lodge, however guests can enjoy a massage in their chalet from local masseuse Bianca Gerber. Bianca runs her beauty business from her home in Hluhluwe just 5 kms from your accommodation at Umkhumbi Lodge. If you pre-book a massage, she will bring her soothing hands to you! Bianca has a wider range of treatments available at her salon including nails, hair removal and makeup.
Laundry Service
Ask one of the team who’ll ensure your clothes come back fresh and clean.
WiFi Internet Hotspot
Free WiFi internet and guest computer are available as a hotspot by the office. The internet is uncapped so you can download and upload as much as you like.
Safe (for locking away valuables)
Remove worries by storing your stuff in our secure safe.
Visa and MasterCard Facility
Both accepted or cash.

We have hairdryers, plug adaptors, charcoal and a small selection of toiletries if you need them. Please ask at reception.
